Introduction

As professionals in technology, we understand the impact education can have on creating a better future for everyone. Being socially responsible and sharing our success with society by assisting those in need and addressing challenges in our community to build a better world is a vital component of our DNA - BE GOOD. DO GOOD.

In our recent social responsibility initiative, we partnered with the IIMPACT foundation to empower and enable girls from underprivileged backgrounds have access to quality education.

Bridging Educational Gaps in Haryana

Since educational advancements for girls began, India's poverty rate has decreased from around 54 percent in 1983 to 21.2 percent in 2011. Gender inequality has long been a barrier to girls' education in India. In 2017, 32% of females were not enrolled in school. As male education is highly prized in the underdeveloped areas in India, parents don't seem eager to financially assist a girl's education owing to these gender stereotypes.

Time and again, essential contributions in the progress of our world have come from women & we aim to empower and foster more of their participation. One of the ways is to make sure they have access to basic education. With this purpose, Penthara Technologies partnered with a not-for-profit organization, IIMPACT Foundation, to empower and enable young girls aged 6 to 14 years old to acquire information and skills to flourish in an ever-changing world.

A Partnership for Change with IIMPACT Foundation

Founded in 2003 by the alumni of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, IIMPACT seeks to address the cause of girl-child education in rural, backward and under-privileged parts of India without any consideration of their religion, caste, community and social standing. IIMPACT’s mission is to mobilize and motivate preteen, non-school-going / irregular to school girls, from socially and economically backward areas in India, and put them firmly on the track to functional literacy through quality primary education.

Over the years, IIMPACT has provided primary education to and main streamed more than 35,000 girls; out of these, some girls have either completed their graduate degrees or are currently doing, their graduation in various colleges / universities.

As an organization we don’t just impact our customers, but also the communities we operate in. Penthara's efforts are directed towards creating better societies by encouraging equity, inclusivity and accessibility. This synergy between our Social Responsibility outlook and IIMPACT's mission led Penthara to step forward to support IIMPACT.

Transforming Futures: IIMPACT’s Education Centres

As part of our initiative, we sponsored two of IIMPACT's Learning centres in Mewat District of Haryana. Both Learning Centres, one in Shikrawa and one in Bisru, caters to 30 girl children each. In these centres, learning tools were designed based on a learning ladder for the foundational and primary years using core concepts in each of the four subjects – Language, English, Math and Environmental Science.

From one of the Learning centres, we proudly share a statement from one of the students at IIMPACT Learning Centre Bisru supported by Penthara Technologies.

“If it had not been for the Learning Centre, I would have never had the courage to dream of becoming a writer“ smiled Jainab “I wholeheartedly thank IIMPACT and Penthara Technologies for the opportunity”

A Sustainable Approach to Learning

As a step forward towards integrating technology in their teaching and learning processes, IIMPACT centres were equipped with Tech devices including smart TV, projector, and tablets. The 60 students enrolled in the learning centres sponsored by Penthara were primarily focused on the new learning outcomes and understanding life skills integrated into curriculum.

Education for girls enhances economies and decreases inequality. It leads to more secure, robust communities that allow all individuals, to reach their full potential.

Penthara Technologies together with IIMPACT Foundation helped to improve girl education and impact the lives of more young girls like Jainab.
